• Began his skeleton racing career in 2002, where he participated in the Bobsleigh Canada Skeleton (BCS) Talent ID Camp
• Won his first World Cup race in Cesana, Italy in 2008
• Won two silver medals at the 2008 FIBT World Championships in Altenberg, Germany, earning them in the men's skeleton and mixed bobsleigh bobsleigh-skelton team event
• Won Olympic Gold in the 2010 Winter Olympics in Vancouver
• Appeared on Oprah days after winning gold
• His "day job" is as an auctioneer
• He is from Russell, Manitoba

• is the Director of the Western Watershed Climate Research Collaborative, a not-for-profit research institute that promotes understanding of climate impacts on river systems originating in the Rocky Mountains
• offers scientific research analysis and interpretation for the Alberta Water Research Institute
• sits on the Expert Panel for the National Roundtable on the Environment and the Economy
• member of the Water and Duncan Gordon Foundation's expert Forum for Leadership on Water
• has authored "Water, Weather and the Mountain West" and "Restoring the Flow: Confronting the World's Water Woes"
