  • Appointed Deputy Governor of Bank of Canada 2009
  • Member of Bank's Governing Council where he shares responsibility for decisions with respect to monetary policy and financial stability and for setting the strategic direction of the Bank
  • In 2008, joined the Bank of Canada as an Advisor to the Governor
  • Served for 20 years on the staff of the International Monetary Fund in Washington, DC
  • Assistant Professor of Economics at Michigan State University (1984-1988) and the University of Iowa (1983-1984)
  • Received a BA from Carelton University in 1977 and PhD in economics from University of Western Ontario in 1983
